My Country's dirty gamesters

As children we were told that we are lucky to be born in this nation
We were told that our land flows with milk and honey and that we are the giant of Africa
We were told that we typify the black race and our country is on the path of greatness
That was our foundation in this part of the world.

We started life disadvantage through no fault of ours
Our parent made promises based on the promises the government made to them
We hailed the government under the scorching sun for using tax payers' money to give our schools some furniture
Our education is now source of their income; glittering future is placed on chess board.
And they say to us that we are the future of the country while their actions clearly showed that they don't believe there is a future.

We go about eating bones when we are children of the butcher
We feed on the remnant left for their dogs like poor Lazarus
They called us lazy youth, YES! We are lazy youth when our lawmakers make law in favor to their family
The government play  with our future in the name of exaggerated pandemic
They take the country's money meant for the poor to enrich their accounts and  left us with our rags
They become the thorns that  choke our green plants
They make our worship home desolate with their ungodly conditions
Their actions torment us like lucifer's bishop.

With their dirty game, mixture of tears and pains  has killed many
With their dirty game, many becomes ritualist
With their dirty game, many becomes terrorist
With their dirty game, evil increases on daily basis in the country
Good news becomes no news; bad news sells in the market.
With their dirty game, many flew out to secure job but they were reject by the white
With their dirty game, many becomes kidnappers

The country is no longer a shelter  for us,
Our daily life seems to be in hell.
We fear for the unseen evil coming
We sleep with one eye opened like a farmer whose maize is ready for harvest
Their promises are like porridge's aroma, which we smell but we can't taste it
Our right is ignored like leprosy man in Israel
Nepotism is installed in their blood
and  they become puppets to corruption
They have provided for their unborn children what they will live on while we scrape on kobo given to us
All because of their game, we suffer for the cost.

As I read about Mosunmola Esther Ajibade’s recent achievement, lines from the Kwara State Polytechnic anthem echoed in my mind. Our Blessed POLYTECHNIC That Nurtures Talents, Fulfills Dreams, Destinies, Hopes And Aspirations. We Love You For You Are The Haven Of Bright Mind With Great Ideas. Your Products Are Found Everywhere, KWARAPOLY, Your Praises We Sing." These lines perfectly tells the story of Mosunmola. A graduate of the Mass Communication Department, she has excelled across various fields as a voiceover artist, OAP, red carpet host, and writer. Her latest feat as the best fellow at the 2024 Young Communication Fellowship, organized by PR Nigeria in partnership with Image Marketer Promotion (IMP), adds another feather to her cap. Mosunmola entered the fellowship as an alternative candidate but emerged as the bes...

Corps Member Tackles Unemployment in Gombe with Fish Farming Training

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production. Ishaq, a graduate of agriculture from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil with specializations in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife, is committed to changing the perception of farming. “Agriculture must be seen as a viable business, not just a way of life,” he explains. His program centers on the innovative Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), a method that recycles water through mechanical and biological filtration to allow for high-density, sustainable fish farming while minimizing the use of land and water. Gombe, like many parts of Nigeria, is grappling with the dual challenges o...
