THE NIGERIA I KNOW

The Nigeria flag I know

It is the royal banner of peace and wealth

The origin of our happiness and health

The royal banner of protection

Our pride and swag cloth

Hmm.....

When the flag is lowered and stained

Our peace and wealth turned to war and vanity

Our royal banner becomes grave clothes

The royal banner of happiness and health turned into cataclysm.

Who will wash our royal banner?

The Nigeria national anthem I know

Oh the song of inspiration

The song of unity and peace

Song of freedom and relieve

Song of hope and prayer

The song that gives life to Justice

But so sadden, our euphonious song becomes sweet sorrowful tone

The spirit of the song is dead

And song of Justice becomes song of crime

It becomes suicidal song to the citizen

When shall we sing the euphonious song of unity?

The Nigeria national pledge I know

It is the oath of national virtues

The oath that inspired us to serve with all our strength

The oath that inspired us to defend our country's dignity

The oath that gives assurance of our country

But our oath has turned villainous

The significant future of the country are slaughtered like festival ram.

Our sweet oath is chanted at graveyard.

The Nigeria coat of arm I know

It is the beauty of our country

At the sight of it, we are inspired to become a broom

We become wiser and stronger when it is nigh us

But when our country is dancing to hade

Our beauty is fading away like a grotesques palace

Our strength grows weaker like a tree in the desert

we are thinkless and harmful to one another

And Our country is dancing to awful hade.

The Nigeria politicians I know

They are undisputed canker

Corruption runs through their veins

They send their infants to other barony to use another infants for war

They are ready to sacrifice their money when election knocks

They buy our hope and gave us false hope

Hmm...

They are monsters in human's skin

They are ready to devour their prey.

The Nigeria citizen I know

We live in one black pot

Tho' we are fishes and birds in nature

But we drink from the same gourd

Hmm...

When the wind of destruction blew

It turned many into Orphans

Many become hopeless

Children of butchers now flex with bones

We are brutalized over our right

We roam homeless and naked in street of living war.

We are thrown out of other barony like deadwoods.

Hmm...

Our country has contacted destruction disease

Nigeria is dying.

As I read about Mosunmola Esther Ajibade’s recent achievement, lines from the Kwara State Polytechnic anthem echoed in my mind. The anthem is more than a song; it captures the heart of the institution’s mission: "Our Citadel Of Excellence, Great Minds Have Come Out Of Thee. Our Blessed POLYTECHNIC That Nurtures Talents, Fulfills Dreams, Destinies, Hopes And Aspirations. We Love You For You Are The Haven Of Bright Mind With Great Ideas. Your Products Are Found Everywhere, KWARAPOLY, Your Praises We Sing." These lines perfectly tells the story of Mosunmola. A graduate of the Mass Communication Department, she has excelled across various fields as a voiceover artist, OAP, red carpet host, and writer. Her latest feat as the best fellow at the 2024 Young Communication Fellowship, organized by PR Nigeria in partnership with Image Marketer Promotion (IMP), adds another feather to her cap. Mosunmola entered the fellowship as an alternative candidate but emerged as the bes...

Corps Member Tackles Unemployment in Gombe with Fish Farming Training

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production. Ishaq, a graduate of agriculture from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil with specializations in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife, is committed to changing the perception of farming. “Agriculture must be seen as a viable business, not just a way of life,” he explains. His program centers on the innovative Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), a method that recycles water through mechanical and biological filtration to allow for high-density, sustainable fish farming while minimizing the use of land and water. Gombe, like many parts of Nigeria, is grappling with the dual challenges o...
