Antidote To social Menace : Roles Of Youth And Government Through Quality Education.

The government and the youth are the most important roots in the in the development of any given country, it is a well-known fact that the youth of any country is a great asset. They are indeed the future of the country and represent it at every level. In other words, the intelligence and work of the youth will take the country on the pathway of success. As every citizen is equally responsible, the youth is too. They are the building blocks of a country while the government is said to be the body that made rules and regulations to people of a particular country, government are in charge of the affair of a country either educational sector or political or economic etc. They are the body that carry the duty.

Andy McIntyre said, “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” This means that an individual or country that doesn't taste education or thinks it is too expensive, such person or country is swimming in pool of ignorance and backwardness, the level of their development will be head from behind. Education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. Education is the trusted key all over the world that it opens success and closed prison, the rate of crime in a country will tell how educated the countrymen are. The state of education in Nigeria is nothing to write about because the government and the youth are not putting effort to have quality education, the blame falls on the former and the latter, the government counts Nigeria education as a means of getting income to flourish the country economic and their pocket while the youth neglected it, they come up with a slang, " school nah scam", Which means school has nothing to show forth, this problem can be traced to the government's action for example The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went for nine months strike in 2020 the reason is that the government failed to meet the demand of the Union and this led to nine months strike which is approximately a session, the student can hardly cope at home because they wouldn't stay at home doing nothing some have engaged themselves in trade and other vocations. The issue of the youth is their negligent towards the school activities, some students hardly come to class while some hardly buy materials for learning nor stick with their book yet they are set of individuals that will come to social media to corrupt the heart of youngsters.

However, Knowledge is power and education empowers. Nelson Mandela has quoted, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.'' This statement highlights the importance of education as an indispensable part of the development equation of the citizens and their countries. It has an intrinsic value which extends far beyond the economic issues. Not only it empowers people to determine their fate, it is the central to the advancement of human development, in order to have a better Nigeria, the government and the youth has meritorious roles to perform.

The government should act towards empowering school leaders and teachers towards professional responsibility and set standards and support them wholly in a quest to deliver quality learning prospects for the learners, some years back, few lecturers are found of taking bribe in order for students to pass their exam or test and this is one of the reasons why youths are Confident of staying behind the class because they know the lecturer's acolyte is money but if the government takes care of the educational leaders, it will reduce the rate of crimes in schools and country.

Providing equality in education whereby the government ensures that the public schools offer a high quality of knowledge and learning equipment to the learners. I was chanced to visit a public secondary school in Ilorin metropolis what i saw was breath taking scene, the students' uniforms is so dirty and it's torn yet the teachers are looking good, the learning environment was dirty even the classroom is not conducive for learning yet we walk around and say, " we have government" Yet our educational sector is dilapidating, the government should make it a point of duty to provide necessary materials to aid learning in institutions, secondary and primary schools.

Lastly on government part, They can subsidize education in several levels including school fees for low-income parents. School fees could be lowered in favour of needy parents and students so that anyone can afford the school fees regardless of the financial status. Education fights poverty in the nation and the society, therefore as the country gives training to its needy citizens the government will be significantly investing in its future economy and status. Since any nation that has got a higher percentage of educated members or elites means that the country is rich. Therefore to eliminate poverty the government has to eradicate illiteracy among its people.

The roles of youths in nation-building is more important than you might think. When the government plays their part well, there will be smooth run of the youth in the building of the country, when the government makes sure their plan towards education is provided, the youth role is to be positive about education and learn their chosen course and to earn a good certificate through an unauthorized means. The youth will stay in a conducive classroom to learn from a knowledgeable lecturer or teacher.

In conclusion, the antidote to social menace is to have quality education in Nigeria, this can be achieved with the roles stated above, the government and youth have a great job in the building of a great nation, Victor Hugo said, “He who opens a school door, closes a prison.” This implies that when the country values education, the door to illegal activities will be shut forever, the proper care of education will make Nigeria grow vast and strong because Education is the Pilar to a great nation.

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production. Ishaq, a graduate of agriculture from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil with specializations in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife, is committed to changing the perception of farming. “Agriculture must be seen as a viable business, not just a way of life,” he explains. His program centers on the innovative Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), a method that recycles water through mechanical and biological filtration to allow for high-density, sustainable fish farming while minimizing the use of land and water. Gombe, like many parts of Nigeria, is grappling with the dual challenges o...
