MY ESCAPADE IN SHALLOW CAVE

It started with congratulations!
Echoing here and there from well-wishers
The nightmare becomes reality,
I'm ready to go through the shallow cave
To end the story of impossible.

Here is the account of my escapade in isle of dashed goal.
Land full of wild and unclean animals,
Crawling and walking animals,
Land of war and death.
Land full of unfulfilled dreams to the weak,
And harvest of dreams to the strong.

I started the adventure with a fragile heart,
Thinking of my defeat from a greater train of learning,
Where youngsters are dreaming to go,
I was dropped from the struggle of the train at rejected station.
Shallow cave's bus picked and landed me in dashed goal institution
My goal seems emaciating like loaf
My heart dropped like a paused breath.

Words of marbles rained from both wise and fool
Enlighten me to be cautious of the thorns in the cave.
Some men said to my ear, "You're a mediocre guy! after all you learned"
I nursed pain rained from my friends to focus on my escape route from the cave.

It was beastly to digest didactics shot at me,
Sometimes, I had to crawl to escaped the teeth of hungry archosaurs,
The thorn torn me naked in the midst of the cave
Even my head was shaped to the posture of dashed goal.

I crossed river Jordan; red sea seems dangerous
I became head of slave of petty poorhouse,
Where raw talents are valued like precious stones,
Under the cave, I waved groovy encroachment,
And my squad's retention will forever lingered in the cave.

Witty method helped me to kill the walking wilds,
With my emblem of humor, I eliminated my difficulty with bittersweet
Sometimes the earth shook and asteroids fell me like snow from eye of god.

"Promise, why don't you partook in the holy ritual?”, My kinsfolk asked
"Why do I have to partook in ritual I knew not?” I replied
I have no stress to sign on anyone
As long as I breathe, man have to break the rock for honey.

Have you heard of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Children sent to the cave turned to night's pass,
Futures of old genitors are walking naked in Sodom and Gomorrah,
I wept for the trust built in the lusterless lights.

I met prideful peacock in the dashed goal.
She walks like the beautiful among girls
With her iridescent eyes, she captured the color of other birds
Yet, her pride fell flat in front of beastly didactics.

I met the dog in the shallow cave,
Waving her tail to every guy she met,
After nightlife, she is given ripened bones
Which she cherished like diamond.

Here are the sheep in the cave,
some are black, some are white,
They walked in steps of our shepherd
And takes every knowledge with grandness
Which makes them to come out with greatness.

Here is the account of the impossible escapade,
In the sorry shallow cave of dashed goal,
Nightmares become reality
With the marbles from wise and fool
And here I say Congratulations.

A graduate of the Mass Communication Department, she has excelled across various fields as a voiceover artist, OAP, red carpet host, and writer. Her latest feat as the best fellow at the 2024 Young Communication Fellowship, organized by PR Nigeria in partnership with Image Marketer Promotion (IMP), adds another feather to her cap. Mosunmola entered the fellowship as an alternative candidate but emerged as the bes...

Corps Member Tackles Unemployment in Gombe with Fish Farming Training

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production. Ishaq, a graduate of agriculture from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil with specializations in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife, is committed to changing the perception of farming. “Agriculture must be seen as a viable business, not just a way of life,” he explains. His program centers on the innovative Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), a method that recycles water through mechanical and biological filtration to allow for high-density, sustainable fish farming while minimizing the use of land and water. Gombe, like many parts of Nigeria, is grappling with the dual challenges o...
