THE RETURN OF LOST GLORY

By: Idris Ayinla Usman.

When time flies to experience unprecedented achievement in any reputable organization, it tends to proclaim certain things either positive or negative. But, the story of Kwara State Polytechnic in recent days serves as the return of lost glory.

In 2019, after the ‘’Otoge’’ revolution in Kwara State. The visionary Governor appointed a distinguished man named Engr. Dr. Jimoh Mohammed Abdul as the Rector of the State Polytechnic. Wow! The atmosphere changed vehemently to welcome new brains with outstanding leadership experiences both in academics and administration.
Engineer. Jimoh Mohammed Abdul, the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic has done wonderfully in the institution, his achievements have remained limelight in the history of the polytechnic. This man met the Kwara State Polytechnic at a critical period. He used his wisdom to regulate the system and restore the institution's status to pay the salary and even increasing the staff welfare positively. What a game changer Rector.
Moreso, he met the institution when it was very long since the staff have not been promoted and denied their legal rights by the former Rector. It is not what was told but what we can see is that this man has been promoting the staff as at when due because he knows the spirit of dedication and hard work of the staff of this great institution. No wonder the number of Chief Lecturers has increased to make the institution match up with its standard.
Believe me, this man has surpassed his predecessors in terms of human capital development, we don’t need to be reminded that this man has changed the nature and quality of materials that thwarted, delayed or denied the institution and students which results to lack of adequate and effective institutional arrangements that cater for students’ needs, interests and aspirations.

He is entrepreneurship oriented, he established Kwara Poly Bread, Kwara Poly Water factory, Kwara Poly Radio, Kwara Poly Micro Finance Bank, Kwarapoly Diagnostic Centre and many more that increase the revenue generation of the institution and make it easy for the institution to move out from recession.

Dear compatriots, let’s appreciate our outstanding Governor. Mallam. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq that dim fit to give the Kwara Poly the befitting Rector Engineer. Jimoh Mohammed Abdul is a power broker, silent achiever and vibrant engineer that work tired to operate to touch every aspect for both staff and students of Kwara State Polytechnic.
Many thank Governor. Mallam. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq the action governor appointed the action rector in the state polytechnic who is making the institution great again and restoring the lost glory of this loving first institution in Kwara State.

As I read about Mosunmola Esther Ajibade’s recent achievement, lines from the Kwara State Polytechnic anthem echoed in my mind. The anthem is more than a song; it captures the heart of the institution’s mission: "Our Citadel Of Excellence, Great Minds Have Come Out Of Thee. Our Blessed POLYTECHNIC That Nurtures Talents, Fulfills Dreams, Destinies, Hopes And Aspirations. We Love You For You Are The Haven Of Bright Mind With Great Ideas. Your Products Are Found Everywhere, KWARAPOLY, Your Praises We Sing." These lines perfectly tells the story of Mosunmola. A graduate of the Mass Communication Department, she has excelled across various fields as a voiceover artist, OAP, red carpet host, and writer. Her latest feat as the best fellow at the 2024 Young Communication Fellowship, organized by PR Nigeria in partnership with Image Marketer Promotion (IMP), adds another feather to her cap. Mosunmola entered the fellowship as an alternative candidate but emerged as the bes...

Corps Member Tackles Unemployment in Gombe with Fish Farming Training

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production. Ishaq, a graduate of agriculture from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil with specializations in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife, is committed to changing the perception of farming. “Agriculture must be seen as a viable business, not just a way of life,” he explains. His program centers on the innovative Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), a method that recycles water through mechanical and biological filtration to allow for high-density, sustainable fish farming while minimizing the use of land and water. Gombe, like many parts of Nigeria, is grappling with the dual challenges o...
