LOVE THEM WHILE THEY ARE BREATHING

Written by Promise Odejide

Over the years, I have posted a short message on my social media walls, but some people misunderstood me. They thought I was suggesting they should LUST after someone, but no! I was trying to convey a message that you should love someone today and stop the hatred. Love is one of the most amazing and complex feelings we can experience. It can make us happier, healthier, and more fulfilled. But sometimes, we don't realize how much we love someone until they are gone. That's why it's so important to show our love and appreciation to our loved ones while they are still here with us.

Here are some proven tips on how to show love to someone:

Don't Wait for Tomorrow: The best time to tell someone you love them is now. Life is unpredictable, and we never know when it will end. Don't wait for a special occasion or a tragedy to express your feelings. Say it often, and say it sincerely. You will make them feel valued and loved, and you will also feel happier and more connected.

Be Thankful: One of the simplest ways to show your love is to say thank you. Thank your loved ones for being there for you, for supporting you, for making you laugh, for making you grow. Let them know how much they mean to you, and how much they enrich your life. A simple thank you can go a long way in making someone feel appreciated and respected.

Do Something Nice: Actions speak louder than words, and sometimes a small gesture can make a big difference. Think of something your loved one likes or needs, and do it for them. It could be cooking their favorite dish, buying them a thoughtful gift, or giving them a hug. These acts of kindness show that you care about their happiness and well-being, and that you pay attention to their preferences and needs.

Talk to Them: Communication is key in any relationship, and it's essential to keep the lines of communication open with your loved ones. Talk to them about anything and everything, from your dreams and fears to your opinions and feelings. Listen to what they have to say, and show interest and empathy. By having honest and meaningful conversations, you can deepen your understanding and trust, and strengthen your bond.

Celebrate with Them: Another way to show your love is to celebrate the achievements and milestones of your loved ones. Whether it's a birthday, an anniversary, a promotion, or a personal goal, be there for them and share their joy. Congratulate them, praise them, and encourage them. Show them that you are proud of them, and that you support their endeavors.

Forgive Them: No one is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes. Loving someone means accepting them as they are, flaws and all. It also means being able to forgive them when they mess up. Don't hold grudges or resentment, but try to understand their perspective and motives. By forgiving them, you can create a more positive and peaceful atmosphere where love can grow.

Spend Time with Them: One of the most precious gifts you can give someone is your time. In this busy world, it's easy to neglect our relationships and take them for granted. But spending quality time with our loved ones is vital for keeping the spark alive. Make time for them in your schedule, and be fully present when you are with them. Do things that you both enjoy, or try something new together. Have fun, laugh, and create memories that will last forever.

To conclude, loving someone while they are alive is the best way to honor their existence and show them how much they matter to us. By showing our love in different ways, we can create a deeper connection and a happier relationship. Don't wait for death to remind you of the importance of love, but rather make it a priority every day they are here with us.

As I read about Mosunmola Esther Ajibade’s recent achievement, lines from the Kwara State Polytechnic anthem echoed in my mind. Our Blessed POLYTECHNIC That Nurtures Talents, Fulfills Dreams, Destinies, Hopes And Aspirations. We Love You For You Are The Haven Of Bright Mind With Great Ideas. Your Products Are Found Everywhere, KWARAPOLY, Your Praises We Sing." These lines perfectly tells the story of Mosunmola. A graduate of the Mass Communication Department, she has excelled across various fields as a voiceover artist, OAP, red carpet host, and writer. Her latest feat as the best fellow at the 2024 Young Communication Fellowship, organized by PR Nigeria in partnership with Image Marketer Promotion (IMP), adds another feather to her cap. Corps Member Tackles Unemployment in Gombe with Fish Farming Training

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production. Ishaq, a graduate of agriculture from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil with specializations in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife, is committed to changing the perception of farming. “Agriculture must be seen as a viable business, not just a way of life,” he explains. His program centers on the innovative Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), a method that recycles water through mechanical and biological filtration to allow for high-density, sustainable fish farming while minimizing the use of land and water. Gombe, like many parts of Nigeria, is grappling with the dual challenges o...
