Life is a journey that has many twists and turns, that's why my beloved Yorubas will say "Àyé ò lọ bí ọ̀pá ìbọn" Life does not go like a gun, Sometimes, we face challenges that test our resilience and determination. Other times, we enjoy moments of happiness and fulfillment. But no matter what life throws at us, we have to make choices that shape our future. We have to take steps that either lead us to success or regret.
Taking a step in life means making a decision that has consequences. One of the ethics I love is CONSEQUENTIALISM, which focuses at the end of an action rather than the action itself, whatever step we want to take, it could be about our education, career, relationships, health, or anything else that matters to us. Some steps are easy and obvious, while others are difficult and risky. Some steps require careful planning and preparation, while others demand courage and spontaneity. Some steps are influenced by external factors, while others depend on our internal values and beliefs.
But whatever step we take, we should know that it is not reversible. We cannot go back and change what we have done or undo what we have experienced. We have to live with the outcomes of our actions, whether they are positive or negative. We have to accept the responsibility for our choices, whether they are wise or foolish. We have to face the reality of our situation, whether it is favorable or unfavorable.
Therefore, taking a step in life is not something to be taken lightly. It is something to be done with awareness and intention. It is something to be done with hope and optimism. It is something to be done with confidence and faith. Because life does not need our consent before it happens to us, we have to make the best of what we have and what we can do. We have to take steps that lead us to successful living, not regretful scars.
