LETTER TO MY NEXT GENERATIONS I

Dear beloved generation,

I believe this letter finds you in ocean of good health and elevating spirits. How are your brethrens faring? Have you gathered them to hear these words of mine? Let the youngest children listen as the reader conveys this message, they should take it in like nourishing milk.

For countless years, I've kept this letter in the same place where you found it. It encapsulates what I've wished to convey to you, even when I was alive. I implore you to grasp and make the most of every word that falls from the reader's lips.

For countless years, you have been the driving force behind my diligent efforts, much like a bee's hard work, aimed at providing you with the opportunities I never had as a child. My goal was to ensure you enjoy what was once beyond my reach.

The purpose of this letter is to impart the core values and fundamental qualities instilled in me by my humble parents, who lacked gold or silver to bestow upon me. They, however, imparted the essence of becoming a true human being—an 'Omoluabi'.

The virtues they taught me are the same that have enabled you to possess what you do today: honesty, integrity, respect, humility, responsibility, compassion, and kindness. These traits have shaped me into a better individual within society, a testament that lives on through my name.

In my professional sphere, my boss appreciates my approach and commitment to the company's progress. My honesty and integrity stand unrivaled.

Despite having modest means, I ensure I aid the less fortunate without seeking recognition (I don't showcase my charitable acts). I firmly believe that material wealth and achievements are left behind when we return to the earth, not accompanying us to the grave.

Therefore, my cherished generation, whenever an opportunity for goodness arises, seize it! Let neither your neighbors nor enemies sleep hungry. Refrain from repaying evil with evil. In times of conflict, remain true to both yourself and your faith.

Remember, "Though a man may perish, his ideologies endure. Your impact lingers, much like your existence."

Until our paths cross again, know that I cherish you deeply.

With love,

Promise Olamilekan Odejide ❤️

Kwara State Polytechnic Mass Communication Graduate Emerges Best Fellow at the 2024 Young Communication Fellowship

As I read about Mosunmola Esther Ajibade’s recent achievement, lines from the Kwara State Polytechnic anthem echoed in my mind. The anthem is more than a song; it captures the heart of the institution’s mission: "Our Citadel Of Excellence, Great Minds Have Come Out Of Thee. Our Blessed POLYTECHNIC That Nurtures Talents, Fulfills Dreams, Destinies, Hopes And Aspirations. We Love You For You Are The Haven Of Bright Mind With Great Ideas. Your Products Are Found Everywhere, KWARAPOLY, Your Praises We Sing." These lines perfectly tells the story of Mosunmola. A graduate of the Mass Communication Department, she has excelled across various fields as a voiceover artist, OAP, red carpet host, and writer. Her latest feat as the best fellow at the 2024 Young Communication Fellowship, organized by PR Nigeria in partnership with Image Marketer Promotion (IMP), adds another feather to her cap. Mosunmola entered the fellowship as an alternative candidate but emerged as the bes...

Corps Member Tackles Unemployment in Gombe with Fish Farming Training

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production. Ishaq, a graduate of agriculture from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil with specializations in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife, is committed to changing the perception of farming. “Agriculture must be seen as a viable business, not just a way of life,” he explains. His program centers on the innovative Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), a method that recycles water through mechanical and biological filtration to allow for high-density, sustainable fish farming while minimizing the use of land and water. Gombe, like many parts of Nigeria, is grappling with the dual challenges o...
