PC: Sanni Abdullahi

Do you feel like giving up as a writer? Or are you losing motivation because of the number of reactions or accolades you receive? The story of Lena, my Quora colleague, has been my driving force in refilling my pen whenever I’m down. Lena is a writer who faced many challenges and obstacles in her writing career, but she never gave up. She overcame her doubts and fears with the help of her editor, who gave her positive feedback and support. In this article, I will share with you Lena’s story and how it inspired me to keep writing. I will also give you some tips on how to boost your writing motivation and achieve your writing goals.

Although, writing is rewarding but challenging. It requires passion, discipline, and creativity. Sometimes, it can be hard to find the motivation to continue writing, especially when the future seems uncertain or bleak. However, you can boost your writing motivation and keep going despite the difficulties. Here are some tips that might help you:

📌 Remember your purpose. Why did you start writing? What is your goal or vision for your writing? Remind yourself of the reasons why you write and how it makes you feel. Writing can be a way of expressing yourself, sharing your ideas, inspiring others, or creating something meaningful. Think about the impact you want to have with your writing and how it aligns with your values and passions.

📌 Set realistic and specific goals. A clear and attainable goal can help you stay focused and motivated. For example, you can set a daily word count, a deadline for a project, or a milestone for a chapter. Make sure your goals are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This way, you can track your progress and celebrate your achievements.

📌 Seek feedback and support. Writing can be lonely and isolating, but you don't have to do it alone. You can seek feedback and support from other writers, editors, mentors, friends, or family. Feedback can help you improve your writing skills, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and gain new perspectives. Support can help you cope with challenges, overcome doubts, and boost your confidence. You can join a writing group, take a writing course, or find a writing buddy online or offline.

📌 Reward yourself. Writing is hard work, and you deserve to reward yourself for your efforts. Rewards can be anything that makes you happy or relaxed, such as a treat, a break, a hobby, or a compliment. Rewards can also be intrinsic, such as the satisfaction of finishing a piece, the joy of creating something new, or the pride of overcoming a challenge. Rewards can help you reinforce positive habits, maintain motivation, and prevent burnout.

📌 Read and learn from others. Reading can be a great source of inspiration and motivation for writers. Reading can expose you to different styles, genres, voices, and ideas that can spark your imagination and creativity. Reading can also help you learn from other writers' techniques, strategies, and experiences that can enrich your own writing. You can read books, blogs, articles, or anything that interests you or relates to your writing topic.

📌 Try something new. Sometimes, writing motivation can fade when you feel bored or stuck in a rut. To avoid this, you can try something new that can challenge or stimulate you. For example, you can write in a different genre, format, or tone than usual. You can experiment with different prompts, exercises, or tools that can help you generate new ideas or perspectives. You can also explore different sources of inspiration such as music art nature or people

📌 Be kind to yourself. Writing is not easy and it's normal to face difficulties along the way However don't let these difficulties discourage you or make you doubt yourself Instead of being harsh or critical of yourself be kind and compassionate Recognize that writing is a process that involves learning growing and improving Don't compare yourself to others or judge yourself by unrealistic standards Instead of focusing on the negative aspects of your writing focus on the positive ones an

These are some of the ways that might help you find motivation to continue writing even when it seems like the future isn't bright. Remember that writing is a valuable and rewarding activity that can bring you many benefits and opportunities. Don't give up on your writing dreams; keep writing! 😊

A bold new project aimed at transforming the lives of 100 young people in Gombe is underway, as Ishaq Abdullahi Shehu, a dedicated National Youth Service Corps member from Kano State, turns his agricultural expertise into a community development program. The initiative focuses on modern fish farming techniques designed to combat youth unemployment and boost local food production.
